Fully Automated Space Capitalism Launch
After two years on hold (development originally started back in 2023), I finally returned to this project in July of this year and managed to bring it to a playable state. Fully Automated Space Capitalism draws inspiration from Star Wars, Fallout, The Outer Worlds, and other cultural references. At its core, the game explores anarchism in a decaying spacefaring setting.
During development, I made a big shift in my workflow. I started using VSCode with an extension that recognizes SugarCube code and compiles it directly into HTML. This has saved me a lot of time compared to my old setup with Notepad++. The experience has been great, and I intend to stick with VSCode for future projects as well.
Fully Automated Space Capitalism is a game made by anarchists, for anarchists. But it’s also meant to be accessible to a broader audience. It’s inspired by real-life experiences while being firmly rooted in speculative fiction. The project builds upon a previous game I created in 2020, itself an adaptation of Alex Damaceno’s tabletop RPG Space Reavers.
Since then, the game has grown in both scope and complexity. Players can now navigate their character on a map, a major step up from the original. There are also many new choices available throughout the gameplay, a storyline with around 10 quests, and even a soundtrack.
